 What is Home Connector?

Home Connector is a small utility which connects home drives and drive
aliases when logging on to an IBM LanServer 4.0 network under Windows 95.
This allows the connection of home drives and drive aliases without
the use of the Lan Server client for Windows 95.

 Why Home Connector?

Home Connector is an attempt to fill the void left by IBM and Microsoft.
I feel the IBM client for Windows 95 is unacceptable and the Microsoft
client does not provide enough functionality.

 Installation

	1) Unzip HOMECON.ZIP in a temporary directory

	2) Run Setup

	3) When setup is finished you may want to create a shortcut to
	   HOMECONN.EXE in your Startup folder.

	4) Run "Setup Home Connector" to specify your domain controller

 How do I use it?

Use the Microsoft Lan Client to logon to the Server. After logon run
Home Connector and your home drive and aliases will be connected.

 Limitations

 	1) Printer aliases are not supported (Yet?)

	2) Share names for home drives may have to be manually shared
each time the file server is started. Home drive shares
are not normally shared until the user logs on via a
Lan Server client. To get around this use the following
	   command for each home directory:

	   NET SHARE USERNAME=C:\USERS\USERNAME

With this you can create a batch file that executes each time the
	   server starts.

	3) To find out what aliases to connect I take a peek at the DCDB.
I dont have any documentation on the structure of the DCDB so
I have made a wild guess. If anyone has any information please
 	   let me know.
